Who was Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj?

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He led the Maratha Empire during a crucial period in Indian history. Known for his military prowess and strategic leadership, Sambhaji’s reign was marked by continuous warfare with the Mughal Empire and other powers. His story is particularly notable for his defence of the Maratha kingdom. Also, his legendary courage in the face of adversity. He was also referred to as Chhaava (lion’s cub).

About Chhaava

Pre-production began in April 2023 and filming commenced in October 2023 and ended in May 2024. The film score and soundtrack album are composed by A. R. Rahman while the lyrics are written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on 14 February 2025.

The film has been produced by Maddock Films and is directed by Laxman Utekar. Starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, Chhaava is the stirring tale of the courageous warrior. A warrior whose coronation on this day in 1681 marked the beginning of a legendary reign.
